Aphantasia is a term with which dam Zeman, a professor of cognitive and behavioural neurology, came up to indicate people who lack abilities to create an image in their minds. The problems are : should people perceive aphantasia as a disability and feel frustrated when they find out they have aphantasia? Should it be sorted out as a kind of disorders? Does it really affect people in many ways?
When I first heard that there are some people who can't imagine ,to be honest, I couldn't understand them. However, after watching this video, I have kind of started to understand what they mean by not being able to create an mental image. Since they can't picture something in their minds, they just try to remember things instead.
As I kept reading the article, another question came up in my head : Can aphantasia be cured? It arouse my curiosity because I have heard that reading storybooks helps children to develop their imagination skills.
So I looked it up, and THERE WERE PEOPLE who overcame aphantasia!

Although I don't think of aphantasia as disorder or disability anymore, I feel grateful that I have my own mind's eyes because imagination is what helps us see things better.
